Prayer Vigil for Budget Resolution

With no progress on any other fronts, a group of Commonwealth residents is now hoping divine intervention will end Pennsylvania’s months-long budget impasse.
On day 69 of Pennsylvania’s budget stalemate, a group of clergymen and women stood on the Rotunda steps and prayed for a solution.
One of them was Pastor Damon Jones of Philadelphia.

"We pray Lord, for all of our legislators, that you would touch their hearts and their minds. That you would move them to compassion, so that they might do what needs to be done in this place."

Jones says he’s concerned nonprofit organizations are taking the biggest hit.

"Many operations have scaled back services, laid off workers or closed up shop due to a halt in government funding."

Last week, Senate President Pro Tem Joseph Scarnati said talks between Republicans and Democrats had broken down. The joint budget conference committee hasn’t scheduled its next meeting yet.
