Acklin Finishes 3rd in Pittsburgh Mayoral Contest

Independent Candidate Kevin Acklin called Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl Tuesday night to congratulate him on his win, thank him for a spirited race, and offer his support. Acklin came in third in the race with Ravenstahl pulling in 55% of the vote, Independent candidate Franco Dok Harris getting 25.3% and Acklin 19.3%.
Holding one of his sons against his chest, and flanked by family Acklin waved to his supporters and thanked everyone for their efforts. He recalled winning over a woman on the South Side who had initially crumpled up one of his flyers and about highlighting neighborhoods and issues that don’t get much of attention.
He says he has no regrets. Acklin admits he’s a little disappointed and isn’t sure what the future holds for him politically, but says he’ll continue to press for the changes he believes Pittsburghers want and deserve.
