Rendells to Split

Less than a month after leaving office, former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and his wife have announced that they are separating. U.S. Circuit Judge Marjorie Rendell and Ed Rendell have been married for 40 years. The two made the announcement by sending out an email to friends.

Rendell and his wife say it was a difficult decision but that they decided it was the right thing to do. The email says the breakup as "amicable" and they told friends to not worry about inviting them to the same social functions. They also asked their friends to respect their privacy and their decision.

Ed Rendell’s faithfulness to the marriage has been the subject of the Harrisburg rumor mill for years and was the subject of several news reports last year when allegations of a romantic relationship with a state employee surfaced.
