Two leaders of the State Senate's Democratic Party outlined some of the areas where they plan to focus their efforts during the upcoming budget season. With the Governor's proposed budget due soon, Senators Jay Costa and Robert Mellow said the top priority for the budget negotiations this year will be passing the document on time.
Costa says he also wants to focus on growing the state's green economy and on post-secondary education programs that will result in a better-trained and -prepared workforce. Senator Mellow said a realistic way to raise revenues while cutting taxes is reforming the business tax climate in Pennsylvania to make it more competitive.
