The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections has decided to keep a small security staff at the old Western Penitentiary for the next three years. The place will be maintained in case the cells are needed in an emergency. The state has been transferring inmates and staff to other prisons since last year in the process of closing it down. DUQ's Alexandria Chaklos was at the prison to see the last inmates leave earlier this month...
