A new non-profit is looking to diversify the work force in Southwestern Pennsylvania, specifically in the energy and health care industries. Vibrant Pittsburgh, which is funded by foundations, the energy industry and the healthcare industry says they are going to actively recruit diversity to the region to fill high-skill jobs that are opening up.
There are four employees in the organization. Melanie Harrington is the CEO of Vibrant Pittsburgh.
"We're definitely going to be working with people who already here thats an important component of what we're doing. But i think in addition to that, simultainously with that we will need to attract talent here to fill the immediate job needs for the skilled job openings that we have here," she said.
The group held a forum at The August Wilson Center on Thursday.
