Group Educates Public on Drilling from Industry's Perspective

The Associated Petroleum Industries of Pennsylvania (API) and the Pennsylvania Independent Oil and Gas Association (PIOGA) have created the Keystone Energy Forum (KES) to educate residents and organizations about natural gas drilling in the Marcellus Shale. The Forum will serve as an educational arm of the drilling industry, and Bill Stewart, director of the Forum says KES represents the interests of 95% of the drilling companies working in the Marcellus Shale. Stewart and API Executive Director Rolf Hanson are quick to point out that this is not an advocacy group, Rolf says it's purely educational "there's such a thirst for information out there from these groups that haven't had an industry source to turn to in the past." He says they'll also help demystify controversial areas like hydraulic fracturing and water quality and highlight the regulations that come with drilling in Pennsylvania. More information can be found at keystoneenergyforum.com.
