A suburban Pittsburgh police chief says the threat that someone had placed 6 pipe bombs at Penn Hills High School and planned to shoot people at the school is "unfounded."
Penn Hills Police Chief Howard Burton says a caller told school district officials about the bombs and said he "was going to shoot anybody around the high school" about 6:30 this morning.
Students already at the school were evacuated to an indoor athletic facility while those arriving on buses and in their own cars were diverted from the high school building.
Burton did not say whether they have a suspect.
He did say that seven students were charged with disorderly conduct for fighting during the evacuation, but those incidents are not related to the threats. There were no reports of any serious injuries.
