Rendell Says Gunman Shouldn't Have Had Weapons

Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell says a Scott Township man who walked into an L.A. Fitness Center dance exercise class in Collier Township, just south of Pittsburgh, and shot and killed 3 women should not have been in the possession of guns. Authorities have identified 48 year old George Sodini as the shooter who apparently turned the gun on himself.
Rendell says it's hard to blame a lack of laws for this incident because at the time of the purchase of the handguns there was no indication he had severe mental problems. But, Rendell continued, if you read his (Sodini's) blog, he had "a deep and abiding hatred for women and someone with those psychological barriers or challenges shouldn't be in possession of multiple semi-automatic weapons."

The blog indicates years of rejection by women, alcohol problems, and an earlier shooting attempt at the same gym in which he said he "chickened out."
