Secretary of Department of Conservation and Natural Resources To Resign

Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary Michael DiBerardinis is resigning on April 3rd, 2009. During his time as secretary DeBardinis has protected more than 130,000 acres of natural areas, seen the Commonwealth invest $415 million in rehabilitation and improvements to Pennsylvania's state parks and forests. DeBardinis launched the program Iconserve which is an outreach program that encourages people to practice conservation on a regular basis. DeBardinis also helped to expand the TreeVitalize program which is trying to plant 1 million trees throughout the commonwealth. DeBardinis has served as Secretary of the DCNR since 2003.
