Procession For Fallen Officers Draws Thousands Downtown

As the three slain officers were moved from the City-County building the only sound that could be heard was that of Police bagpipes. A crowd of thousands gathered on Grant street to pay their respects and remained silent while the officers bodies were loaded into their hearses. With a sense of loss visible on nearly everyones faces the crowd of mourners honored the fallen police officers through their silence and respect. As the procession made its way to Oakland the people who gathered on the streets clapped softly and some of them wept. When the procession had passed an unusually quiet downtown tried to move on.

Hear comments from officers Jody Eberhart, Chuck Handerhan, Thomas Ross and Robert Knapp.
