Friends of The Riverfront will host a trail mix(er) fundraiser in Lawrenceville on Friday night at The Mogul Minds Studio. Tickets cost $50. Proceeds from the event will benefit riverfront development.
At the event former Mayor Tom Murphy who advocated for recreational greenways and trails along the riverfront will be given the Martin J. O'Malley award. O'Malley was the founder of the Friends of The Riverfront and he envisioned trails alongside the rivers.
Program Manager Sarah Carr says the riverfront trails are a way to change the perception of Pittsburgh to those who don't live here. Instead of a dreary industrial city, it can be seen as a city where the environment and personal health are valued.
