As part of National Night Out (August 3, 2010), AAA is holding an event to collect any old or unsafe car or booster seats.
AAA’s Spokesperson Bevi Powell says they’re asking parents to bring any old car seats to the Bellevue McDonalds from 4 to 7 pm in return for a gift certificate worth up to $6.19. She says this is a great way for people to clean out their garages, attics and basements, as well as keep highways safer by clearing the roads of any hazardous car seats.
Powell says, “AAA’s goal is to keep highways safe, and to see every child 0-8 years old seated safe and secure in a car seat or booster seat.” She says this event will bring them one step closer to that goal.
Powell advises any parents to bring a car or booster seat to the event if it has already protected a child in a car crash, even if it was just a fender bender; if it is more than 6 years old, is missing critical parts and pieces such as a harness, or if it’s listed on the Recall/Defect list as needing to be destroyed.
McDonalds in Bellevue is located at 4557 Ohio River Boulevard.
