The 10th Annual Southwestern Pennsylvania Smart Growth Conference was held Friday at the Convention Center. The conference focused on regional collaboration and investing in sustainable communities.
Keynote Speaker Peter Calthorpe, an architect and proponent of new urbanism spoke about building communities that are built to human scale, the need to invest in our own communities rather than expecting corporations to build our communities for us and the need to cut down on automobile use.
Discussions and workshops were held on the federal perspective on sustainable community development and what regions need to do.
