Pennsylvania Finalist In National Grant Competition
Pennsylvania has been selected as one of 16 finalists for federal education funding under the "Race to the Top" education reform competition. $4.3 billion will be distributed to states that show the strongest strategies to committed educational reform. Pennsylvania may receive up to $400 million if it is awarded the grant. Pennsylvania's application included 120 school districts and 59 charter schools. The state enters the last part of the process March 15th when its plan will be reviewed in Washington D.C. with the announcement of the award winners coming after all finalists have been scored.
