House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Stan Saylor from York County has introduced a program called Marcellus Works. The proposal has 4 main components, to transition state vehicles to "natural gas" or the type of gas found underground, provide tax credits for "natural gas" vehicles and infrastructure, providing conversion grants to local governments to convert their fleets to "natural gas" and installing natural gas stations at every stop on the Pennsylvania Turnpike a natural gas corridor.
Saylor says he does not believe there are detrimental environmental effects to hydraulic fracturing.
He said his proposal will keep gas drilling industry in the state and thousands of jobs in the natural gas industry and in the infrastructure, manufacturing and the service sectors.
