PA Lawmakers get Raise
Pennsylvania state lawmakers and judges got raises this week in the form of an annual cost of living increase. Activists say the COLA law should be repealed, and officials should return the money to taxpayers. Gene Stilp of Taxpayers and Ratepayers United is campaigning hard against the 2.8% increase. Stilp says Pennsylvanians struggling to get buy in a difficult economy cannot afford to give lawmakers a pay raise that increases the lowest salary in the Legislature to $78,000. The state if facing millions in budget short falls is year. Collections have trailed projections every month this year.
