University Of Pittsburgh Prepares For Funding Cuts

The University of Pittsburgh is bracing for funding cuts in this years state budget. On top of cuts in funding the University of Pittsburgh is also trying to achieve inclusion in stimulus funding for state universities. Currently the University of Pittsburgh is not on the list. Vice Chancellor of Public Affairs Robert Hill says that last year the University faced $11 million dollars in reductions to their budget. Hill says that if the university loses the nearly $30 million in proposed funding cuts students can expect to have to bear the costs through tuition hikes. Hill said he hopes that the University can gain inclusion into stimulus funding or reduce the amount of cuts the state budget is proposing.
