Some Water Users to See Rate Increase
Pennsylvania American Water will be increasing its rates for customers. Water customers who use 4,200 gallons per month will see an increase of $3.16 to $46.14. As part of the increase agreement that was reached with the Public Utility Commission Pa American Water must increase its donation to the H2O Help to Others Program by $100,000. The program helps those who need assistance in paying their water bills. Pa American Water sought the rate increase as a way to recoup money invested in capital improvements and operating expenses. In order in to increase rates the Public Utility Commission must first do a fact finding report to ensure that a rate increase is merited. Consumers with Pa American Water pay about 1 penny for every gallon they use.
