Families USA, a non-profit group based in Washington DC has released a report detailing how many people per state are losing health coverage.
In Pennsylvania, 59,510 people will lose health coverage this year. That breaks down to 4,960 monthly and 1,140 per week.
This number is a bit higher than the national average.
The reasons are varied said Ron Pollack, Executive Director of Families USA.
The more people don't have health insurance, the higher premiums rise. And the higher premiums rise, the more people can't purchase health insurance. Over the last decade, health insurance premiums have risen at rates that outpace inflation.
The data in the report was based primarily on working Americans and doesn't account for the effects growing unemployment rates have on coverage losses.
