Urban Park Groundbreaking
Pittsburgh leaders have initiated construction for a "world class urban park" near the South Side Works to be completed in 2012. Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl says the $12 million redevelopment will take better advantage of the city's riverfronts. "Our riverfronts are assets," he says. When completed, the park will connect to the Hot Metal Pedestrian Bridge and bike trail that eventually leads to Washington DC, and will allow for the expansion of waterfront activities.
