Saturday is Beyond Bikes Day

The event is meant to familiarize families and individuals with Pittsburgh's bicycling offerings--from the roads that have bike lanes, to easy, kid friendly bike rides and biking safety information. A number of groups are sponsoring Beyond Bikes Day and the activities kick off at the Kingsley Association Community Center at 6435 Frankstown Ave., May 29 from 12 p.m to 3 p.m. Rides of three different lengths, all less than 30 minutes long will leave every 20 minutes from the center, and while riders are asked to bring there own bikes, a number of loaner bikes will also be available. Organizer Von Singletary with Venture Outdoors says this is an opportunity for beginner bikers to get a handle on the biking scene in the East End and perhaps pick up a new hobby or new mode of transportation.
