County Senior Centers Extend Hours

Because of the extreme heat, some of the senior centers in Allegheny County will remain open longer than their usual hours of operation. Kathleen Burk, spokeswoman for the County Department of Human Services says these centers, designated as “Cooling Islands, will be open into the evening through Thursday July 8.

The “Cooling Islands” are available to those who would like to stay at a center later than usual to avoid the discomfort of the extremely warm weather.
