Dems Pick McKeesport Mayor for Special Election
Democratic Committee members from Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties have selected their nominee for the November 2 special election to fill the State Senate seat vacated by Sean Logan. Logan resigned from the Senate August 24 to become Vice President of Community Relations for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). At yesterday's committee meeting in Delmont, McKeesport Mayor James Brewster received all 114 votes cast. Brewster's nomination must still be okayed by the the State Democratic Committee next week. Republican Committee members will select their nominee Friday for the special election to serve out the last 2 years of Logan's term.
