Republican Committee members have selected former Plum Borough School District Director Paul Olijar as the GOP nominee for the November's special election for the Pennsylvania State Senate seat vacated by Sean Logan. Logan resigned August 24 with 2 years remaining on his term to take the job of Vice President of Community Relations with UPMC.
Olijar will face McKeesport Mayor James Brewster who Democrats tabbed as their nominee last week. Olijar appears to have an uphill battle because Democrats hold a nearly 4 to 1 voter registration edge in the 45th Senatorial District.
