The Allegheny County Health Department and The Pennsylvania Department of Health held a conference on Wednesday to discuss the disparities in sexually transmitted diseases in Allegheny County.
In 2008 the cases of sexually transmitted diseases were 10 to 33 times higher for African-Americans than for whites.
Although the incidence of cases isn't as high as in other cities it is still cause for concern so about fifty people gathered in Oakland to come up with a plan to cut the disparity.
Those gathered represented hospitals, insurance companies, school districts and community groups.
