E-Waste Recycling Event To Be Held

The Pennsylvania Resources Council will be holding a "hard-to-recycle" collection event on Saturday, May 16Th at the Allegheny County Health Department in Lawrenceville. The event is the first of the 2009 season and will accept televisions, e-waste, cell phones, printer/toner cartridges, compact fluorescent bulbs, alkaline batteries and tires with rims. The event will also be collecting medical materials such as crutches, canes and wheelchairs for the first time. The medical materials will be reused at hospitals in Latin America thanks to a partnership with an organization called Global Links. For the electronic materials there will be a fee for dropping them off because the materials will be taken apart and re-used. The fee's are no more than $35.00.
