Library Supporters Rally before Carnegie Library Board Members Board
Supporters of library branches in Pittsburgh rallied in Oakland on Monday afternoon to urge Carnegie Library Board Members to not close their libraries or reduce services.
About 45 supporters rallied, many of them parents with their children. They carried signs and chalked the sidewalk, hoping to catch the attention of a board member as they headed in for a meeting. Many of the parents said they go to the library often and that they provide a sense of community.
Mayoral candidates Franco Doc Harris and Kevin Acklin were also there.
On Tuesday Carnegie Library Board of Trustees will announce their plan for addressing library funding issues.
