Pittsburgh Named Top Sports City

The city of Pittsburgh has been named the best sports city by The Sporting News. Pittsburgh beat out cross state rival Philadelphia to win the award for the first time. The list of top sports cities contains 399 cities and towns in North America. Sporting News Publisher Ed Baker says Pittsburgh won because of a combination of its two championships, fan attendance and number of sports teams. The latest issue of the magazine features both Sidney Crosby and Ben Roethlisberger on the cover. Baker presented Mayor Luke Ravenstahl with a tie and a piece of Tiffany glassware to commemorate the event.
