The Pitt Panthers came back from a 15 point deficit in the third quarter to defeat Big East Conference rival Connecticut at home in a 24 – 21 victory today. Pitt quarterback Bill Stull turned his night around after throwing two interceptions by tallying two touchdowns and 268 yards. But Coach Dave Wannstedt says Stull and the Panthers couldn’t have done it without an excellent effort from their offensive line, who allowed only one sack.
Pitt was down 21-6 late in the third quarter when the Panthers scored 18 unanswered points, capping the game with an 18 yard field Dan Hutchins field goal to win. The Panthers will hit the road with a 2-0 Big East record to take on fellow conference team Rutgers next Friday.
