4 Carnegie Library Branches Close Due to Heat

Pittsburgh’s heat and high humidity level is forcing four Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh locations to cancel scheduled programs and close temporarily. Spokeswoman Suzanne Thinnes says the libraries are located in historic buildings and are not equipped with air conditioning.

The following libraries will close at 1 pm today.

CLP – Lawrenceville
279 Fisk Street

CLP – Mt. Washington
315 Grandview Avenue

CLP – South Side
2205 East Carson Street

CLP – West End

Thinnes says officials will evaluate weather conditions, but expect to re-open the libraries tomorrow (July 7) Customers are encouraged to visit the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s Web site for updates and to locate the closest neighboring library.
