New Commissary Replanned for Moon
Congressman Tim Murphy of the South Hills says the Defense Department has changed plans again for the commissary soon to be built in Moon. Not only will the facility be much larger and more expensive than anticipated, but its location is now undecided once again. The 44,000-square-foot commissary will cost about $10 million dollars more than the previous design, which was slated to be built at the intersection of Business Route 60 and University Boulevard. Murphy says the introduction of additional Navy and Marine units to the area will be good for both businesses and the facility's construction. The change of plans is the latest in a series of indecisive moves made after the closing of the old Charles E. Kelly Support Center in Oakdale.
