Air Pollution Guidelines May Be Re-examined

Some groups say it's time for Allegheny County to revisit its air pollution guidelines. Clean Water Action says the guidelines have remained the same for more than 20 years. The County Health Department uses the guidelines to determine whether to issue new permits that establish the levels of pollutants businesses can put into the air. Clean Water Action says it would also like the guidelines to take into consideration levels of pollutants that are already in the air in locations where businesses are seeking new permits.
