Pittsburgh City Council today unanimously granted final approval to a package of bills that will restructure campaign finance laws, end no-bid contracting, tighten the council Ethics Code, and require registration of all political lobbyists. The legislation also has the approval of Mayor Luke Ravenstahl who will sign it into law. Councilman Bill Peduto, author of the measures, says this marks a historic day for the city, but that more reform is going to follow.
Peduto also announced today his “10 Theses” which he ceremonially nailed to the door of Council chambers. The theses consist of a variety of governmental reform topics including those that were changed today. A complete list of the theses can be found at the Reform Pittsburgh Now website.
