State Representative Tony DeLuca has introduced legislation into the State House of Representatives that would increase protections for senior citizens against insurance fraud. Representative DeLuca became aware of senior citizens being convinced to take out life insurance policies that they didn't need after some victims of fraud came to his office to tell him of their financial losses. The bill would enable financial penalties against insurance companies found guilty of selling unnecessary insurance to the elderly. DeLuca says he does not foresee any problems in getting the legislation passed and said he has 34 bipartisan cosponsors.
