Energy Plant May Come To Westmoreland County

Tenaska Energy, Inc. has announced that they are in the early planning stages of creating a power plant in Westmoreland County. Tenaska has purchased 400 acres in an area south of Interstate 70 to construct, own and operate a natural gas fueled electricity generating facility. The plant if completed would occupy approximately 50 acres and would be surrounded by natural buffers to reduce any noticeable presence in the region. The maximum size of the plant would be large enough to produce 950 megawatts of energy which would serve 1 million households. Tenaska is targeting a project completion of 5 years and would employ 25-30 permanent employees.
