County Housing Authority to receive Stimulus Dollars

The Allegheny County Housing Authority will receive $ 7.7 million in federal stimulus money to make housing and infrastructure improvements throughout the county. Housing Authority Executive Director John Joyce says it is around the amount they had been expecting to receive from the stimulus. Much of the money will be used to repair and/or install kitchens and bathrooms in high rise apartments. This task has been delayed before due to the lack of funding. The remaining money will be used for infrastructure repairs. Joyce specifically noted Prospect Terrace in East Pittsburgh to receive these improvements. This money comes in addition to approximately $4.5 million the Housing Authority gets each year from the federal government.
