Senator Bob Casey speaks of Middle East Travels

Last week, Senator Bob Casey made a congressional trip to Israel and Turkey along with three other members of legislature. Senator Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey, Senator Edward Kaufman of Delaware and Representative Tim Walz of Minnesota joined him. During the trip, Casey says he met with the Israeli president, prime minister, defence minister and deputy foreign minister at different points of the week. Casey says they discussed their concerns of Iran's nuclear weapons, as well as the economy, settlements and furthering a peace process. He also got the opportunity to visit the West Bank and Jericho to see training camps. As a member of the foreign relations committee, Casey says it's important to maintain connections abroad and be familiar with the issues other countries are facing. He last visited the Middle East in November 2005, before he was elected to United States Senate.
