Legislation Banning Unsolicited Materials Put On Hold

Pittsburgh City Council today voted to hold for three weeks legislation that would ban the distribution of any unsolicited materials. The legislation is being held because the bills author, Councilman Jim Motznik, is out of town preparing for his job as a district judge. The bill would allow citizens to post signage that states they do not want to receive unsolicited materials. Councilman Bruce Kraus says they have not worked out a penalty for those who would break the ordinance but are actively working towards a solution. The bill would require all materials to be securely fixed to a porch or stoop.
