Allegheny Valley Trail Development Plan Underway

Development work will begin for the Allegheny Valley Trail as McTish Kunkel and Associates have been hired to complete a development plan for the 32 mile trail along the Allegheny river. The trail, between Millvale and Harrison Township, will tie into the Pittsburgh-to-Harrisburg trail and the Erie-to-Pittsburgh trail when completed. Friends of the Riverfront executive director Thomas Baxter says the trail will provide many assets to the region including increased property value. The trail will be equipped for pedestrian and bicycle use and will be along the right bank of the Allegheny river. Currently there is no timetable for completion of the trail but once the development plan is in place the implementation stage will be ready to go.
