Pennsylvania State Representative Dan Frankel has re-introduced legislation that would amend the states Human Relations Act to include protection from discrimination for the gay, lesbian, and transgendered community. The bill is passed would protect from discrimination in employment, housing, credit and public accommodations. The bill has a large amount of support with 78 co-sponsors. In the state house all members of the majority are signed on as co-sponsors and some republican representatives are also co-sponsoring the bill. Frankel is confident that the bill will make it out of committee and will be voted upon favorably in the legislature. There are 13 municipalities in the state that currently have protections in place for gay, lesbian and transgendered people. The bill if passed would provide protection throughout the entire state as opposed to only a handful of regions.
