For the past seven years, Project Prom has provided prom apparel for more than 900 students. Project Prom manager Samanth Baer McVicker says that because of significant donations and the economic downturn, eligibility has been expanded. They now will include high school students participating in the free school lunch program and/or have parents receiving unemployment compensation. However, students must apply and be approved before attending the event. McVicker says the giveaway will have dresses, jewelry, purses, shoes and more, both gently used and new. The biggest dress store donors include One Enchanted Evening in Wexford and The Winner in Sharon. There are also limited tuxedo rental gift certificates available for boys.
The giveaway will take place on March 24, 25, and 26 from 3 to 6pm at Century III Mall at the SOURCE shop. For more information, visit their website or call (412) 350-3428.
