Video Service Brings New Views to Sports Fans

A Carnegie Mellon University research team led by Dr. Priya Narasihman and Dr. Rajeev Gandhi has created a new service that streams replays of key sports plays to fan's cell phones from multiple viewpoints. Users can adjust the length, speed, and angle of the replay from their phone, as well as receive statistics and player biographies instantly. The only requirement is a cell phone or other device with wi-fi capabilities. Narasihman says the research phase of the project, done in collaboration with the Pittsburgh Penguins, is complete; now, the researchers are attempting to launch their own business to market the service. With this will come an expansion to other Pittsburgh sports teams and eventually teams in other cities. Unfortunately, only fans at the sporting event itself will be able to use the service. Due to copyright issues, the replays cannot be saved or leaked.
