April Deemed "Community College Month" in PA
More than 415,000 students are currently enrolled at the 14 community colleges across the Commonwealth. State lawmakers agreed to honor the faculty, staff and students of these facilities by dubbing April "Community College Month" in Pennsylvania. State Senator John Wozniak(D) of Cambria County says, "The community college concept is an excellent way to educate our young people for a very affordable price, and it is a wonderful place to go for a non-traditional student [to realize] that education is life-long, not something you terminate in your early twenties." Wozniak says the Commonwealth had taken long enough to recognize the importance of community colleges to the economy of the state. The state Senate adopted the resolution Wednesday.
