County Seeking Review of 911 Operators Handling of Call
Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato and County Emergency Services Chief Bob Full held a press conference to discuss a review of the 911 operators handling of the domestic disturbance call that led to the deaths of three city police officers. The county has asked PEMA (Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency) to look into the 911 call to determine if there was an error in procedure or a human error. Onorato and Full made clear that Allegheny County trains its 911 operators more extensively than the state guidelines require and believe that this was an isolated incident. Full also said the 911 operator who handled the call had been notified of a promotion two days prior to the incident and that the employee has been placed on leave and is with the county's employee assistance program. Full added that the employee had met all the standards required in her training and said that she "had a bright future ahead of her."
