“Racino” Trial Run Includes E-Table Games

The Meadows Racetrack and Casino is one step closer to living up to its new expanded name. The casino opened for a dry run today for invited guests only. All proceeds from the 6 hours of play went to local volunteer fire companies. The usual slot machine fare was augmented with so-called electronic table games. The blackjack and three card poker machines fall under the list of allowable games because the players do not go head to head with other players and there are no live dealers. Meadows spokesperson April Hutcheson says the inclusion of the games is a mater of supply and demand. She says potential users said they wanted the table-like games. She says The Meadows would like to see the state allow live table games. She says the users want it and it would provide a boost to the industry and the state’s coffers. The results of the dry run will be reviewed by the state gaming board. Hutcheson says the hope is that the board will return a favorable review in the next 24 hours and the casino will open as planned Wednesday.
