County To Offer Youth 600 Jobs
Allegheny County received a $1.9 million dollar grant from the workforce investment act to provide summer jobs for county youths. The jobs will primarily focus on some of the county's green initiatives but will also include jobs such as child care and money management. The jobs are open to disadvantaged youths age 14-24 in the county but outside the city because the city has a summer youth employment program of its own. The county will be able to offer 600 jobs because of the grant it received.
