GBA Names New Leader

Pittsburgh's Green Building Alliance announced the identity of its new executive director Thursday. Holly Childs, formerly the Director of Economic Development for the City of Cincinatti, will be assuming the position. The Alliance's new leader says she first hopes to establish strong connections with other non-profits in the area, such as Sustainable Pittsburgh, to help expedite the process of green construction. Childs says to her, the responsibility of such a role is "liberating, more than heavy." Says Childs, "My master's degree is actually in Environmental Economics, so this is kind of getting back to my roots... This is an opportunity for me to build on what I've done in the last couple years in Cincinatti." Prior to her time there, Childs also served in the same position for the city of Goodyear, Arizona. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Wake Forest University and her Master of Science in Environmental and Natural Resources Economics from West Virginia University.
