ISSU Angered by Liquor Control Board Sales Campaign
The Independent State Store Union (ISSU) wants the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) to pull a new email promotional campaign. The campaign allows users to sign up for information on upcoming sales and promotions and enters new users into a drawing for a free gift card. But the ISSU says the promotion targets young people by using alluring models and wording and does not restrict email sign ups to those 21 years old and over. Ed Cloonan, Communications Director for the ISSU says there's a direct connection between binge drinking and increased alcohol advertising by both the PLCB and Beer and alcohol companies. He says they should make sure any advertising is clearly geared towards a demographic that can drink legally.
