The first Friday in April is Freedom Friday, a day when a local group encourages the community to abstain from drugs and alcohol for twenty-four hours.
The Message Carriers are a non-profit recovery advocacy group whose self-proclaimed mission is to put a face on recovery.
The group formed in the mid-1990's.
